Freedom and Democracy: End Corruption. Save Democracy.

IMAGINE a government that actually represents its people…

The corrupting influence of money in our political system is the death of democracy. It is the root cause of all that ails our country. Until we end cronyism and pay-to-play politics, we cannot have honest conversations about the issues that are affecting our communities.

Elections should be free of the corrupting influence of money, and fair enough that anyone can run for office, not just millionaires and their allies. To achieve this, publicly funded elections must replace privately funded elections and full disclosure of all political funding must be enforced. A United States constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United and related cases that have led us down this dark path must be passed in order to secure freedom and democracy.

But we won’t stop there. To further ensure true democracy and, therefore freedom, we will protect our right to free speech by protecting Net Neutrality and ending warrantless spying.

We need to abolish the electoral college and institute approval or ranked-choice voting. We must put an end to all measures that disenfranchise voters, from allowing for same-day voting registration, to eliminating long lines at the polls, to ending gerrymandering.

Every citizen’s voice matters. Every person deserves to be heard and represented. Imagine.
